The Marquez Knolls Property Owners Association (MKPOA) is working to strengthen wildfire preparedness, community safety, and neighborhood resilience by establishing Firewise USA® recognized districts within Marquez Knolls.

We are currently working to organize two Firewise districts:
A. Lower Lachman
B. Upper Lachman — extending from upper Tellem Drive to the top of Lachman Lane and including all streets in between.

What Is Firewise USA®?

The Firewise USA® program encourages neighbors to work together to reduce wildfire risks and better protect their homes and community. Participating neighborhoods focus on practical measures such as:

  • Vegetation and fuel management
  • Defensible-space planning
  • Home-hardening education
  • Wildfire preparedness and evacuation awareness
  • Coordinated neighborhood risk-reduction efforts

Firewise USA® recognition demonstrates that a neighborhood is taking organized, proactive steps to reduce wildfire risk. Recognition may also provide additional benefits to homeowners, including potential insurance-related benefits or discounts, depending on the insurance company, policy, and applicable California programs.

We Need Your Help

MKPOA would like to help establish additional Firewise districts throughout Marquez Knolls, but successful Firewise communities depend on neighbors getting involved.

If you are interested in helping organize a Firewise district on your street or in your part of Marquez Knolls, please contact MKPOA Board Members Mark Rhomberg and/or Mark Galanty for more information.

Working together, we can make Marquez Knolls better prepared and more resilient to wildfire.
